Home › Shed foundations & bases

The part underneath that decides everything.

A shed is only as good as what it sits on. We build proper wood bases so the structure stays square, the doors keep closing and water runs away instead of sitting.

Why the base matters

Almost every shed problem we get called out to fix started here.

  • A shed on uneven ground twists, and once it twists the doors never line up again
  • Sitting directly on grass or soil traps moisture and rots the floor from below
  • Manufacturer warranties often require a level base, so skipping it can void yours
  • A proper base lifts the floor clear of standing water and snow melt

How we build them

Framed, levelled and squared before anything goes on top.

  • Pressure-treated frame sized to your specific shed model
  • Levelled across the whole footprint, checked in both directions
  • Plywood deck fixed down solid so the floor does not flex
  • Set clear of the ground so air moves underneath
  • Built the same day as the shed where the schedule allows

Common questions

Do I really need a base?

If your ground is not already solid and level, yes. We will not install onto grass or soft ground. It is the single biggest factor in whether a shed lasts five years or fifteen.

Can I put a shed straight on grass?

Not with us. Grass is never level and it holds water, so the shed twists and the floor rots. Other crews will do it. We build a base instead, because that is the part that decides whether it lasts.

Do you build on an existing patio or pad?

If it is solid and level, you may not need a base at all. Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Can you build the base and the shed in one visit?

Often yes, depending on size and access. Larger sheds sometimes need the base built first and the shed the following day.

What size base do I need?

It depends on the shed model. Send us the brand and size and we will work it out.

Building a base is usually part of a shed assembly job, and the same applies to gazebos and greenhouses going onto soft ground.
